Since I’ve been back in Colorado this week I’ve been getting lots of questions about how far am I from certain places in Africa (i.e. I’m heading to South Africa, how far is that from where you live?). Tanzania is just south of the equator on the east coast of Africa (right about where the south east coast of the US is on this map). Our wish list of places we want to visit in Africa is long, but we’re realizing how far many of these places really are; not to mention that travel is often more difficult and less reliable than travel in the US and Europe. But really, that’s all part of the allure, isn’t it?
In January 2010 we moved to Arusha, Tanzania for Matt's job with the Nature Conservancy. This is my attempt to keep family updated on what we're doing (and document it for the kids to re-read when they are older).

Webb and Jeff Visit!
We were very sad to see Bibi and Babu (kiswahili for Grandmother and Grandfather) leave today. We had a great visit. The safari time, beach time and just time at home playing cards and hide and seek in this amazing climate was wonderful. Here are some fun memories. Thanks for everything and for taking a month off of work and life to come visit us!
