So much for my resolution to update at least once a month. I’d like to blame our daily 12-18 hour power outages (we’re on hour 22 right now), but I think that’s only a partial excuse. So, here’s some random snapshots of the last month or so.
I turned 45 and Matt gave me a “Land Rover Experience” driving lesson. So scary and fun! I was even able to (purposely) balance the car on two wheels!
Next we had the Arusha Rotary Bicycle Race where the girls scored some top-step podium positions. Ashlyn accomplished this after running that morning’s 5k ‘Fun Run”!
I went to Rochester for the Finger Lakes Triathlon. It had turned into a Coyle Family Reunion of sorts (cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews all racing). I was feeling very left out last year, so promised that I’d made the trip back for it this year. Even though the weather was pretty horrible (50’s with misty rain and wind), I am so glad I was there.
That’s a lot of Coyle racers
We even managed a few age-group podium spots (and this was Chuck’s first Olympic distance race)
Love this kid!
While I was gone the girls had a fun swim gala against the Moshi campus.
We have lots of silly carrots in the garden
Ashlyn’s class ‘published’ their short stories and held an Author’s celebration. (Tierney’s class also published their folktales)
We have (too many) baby bunnies – 15!
Anderson is obsessed with homemade lemonade
Ashlyn and Anderson had Primary Sports Day (go Kibo house!)
Petro, our gardener and Anderson’s soccer buddy, left us to go run his own farm. We are proud of him and wish him and his family luck on this next adventure, but we’ll sure miss him.
Everything is dusty, we rarely have power, and water is scarce, but the blooming jacarandas sure are pretty.
[Power came back after 24 hours, but internet was still out for another 4]
