We didn't hesitate to get our summer started. The day that school ended we hopped on a plane (well two planes) and flew to London where Matt had been for work. It's practically on the way to the USA, right? It was a quick two night overlay, but thankfully we only had a couple of things on our to-do list: changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and The Lion King!

We all loved it! |

Catching pigeons in the park. You can take the boy out of Africa, but you can't take Africa out of the boy.

After cancelled flights and changing travel plans, the kids and I finally made it to Colorado where Matt joined us a few days later.
Leadville is our special family time; it's easy to just relax and enjoy the beauty. We also made a trip down to Buena Vista for some whitewater rafting. The kids loved the class 3-4 rapids in the aptly named Brown's Canyon on the Arkansas River.
Smiles all around
While Matt was busy working the kids and I took a drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. Yet another beautiful corner of Colorado.
Then, of course, there's the fabulous cousin time and hanging out at Chuck and Jen's!

Seriously, Boulder?? |
It was also great to see Matt in action when he gave a talk at the Denver Museum of Science and Nature about elephants. I walked in to the IMAX theater and was intimidated by the huge screen and seating for 400+ plus, but it didn't seem to phase Matt and he did an amazing job (of course).
Watch out Rochester, the Africa invasion is headed your way.
