Catching you up on a few things that we've been doing so far this month.
Matt had another "work" trip to Loisaba, so we decided it would be fun for Anderson to play hooky from school for a couple days for a boys trip. I'd say it was a roaring success: wild dogs, cheetah kill, and hanging with his favorite guide, Brown.
We started the month of September with a beautiful solar eclipse. It was very cloudy that day, but we did get a few random breaks in the clouds to see it.
I had a birthday. It was a very quiet start to the weekend. The night before my birthday I was home alone. All alone. Only the 2nd time ever. I had cereal for dinner, climbed into bed early, and binge watched Stranger Things. It was perfect.
And finally, this weekend, we had the Arusha Rotary Club Triathlon that took place right at school. We all did it and had a great time. So proud of the kids for doing it solo (most of their friends did it as a team) and each of them earned a podium spot.
**thanks to our friends for capturing the podium pics for us. Matt and I missed it because we were still on course.
And this is from this morning. T was not feeling 100% but still had no complaints about leaving in the dark for early morning swim training. She's tough!

Ashlyn had her first OP (Outdoor Pursuits) backpacking trip with school to the Marangu Waterfall in the foothills of Kilimanjaro. Up next, Mandara Hut, the first hut on Kilimanjaro.
She came back a bit tired, but all smiles
And just because I love this photo

Matt and I in well matched in lanes 1 and 2. It looks like we're behind, but we actually lapped the other swimmers that you see. |
1st Place U13 Girls (Ashlyn got 3rd in same category, but had already gone home) |
2nd place U13 boys |
We match! |
