Anderson’s Very Good Day

I should start by saying that there was no school Wednesday, so we did have a bit of a head start on having a good day (not that he doesn’t enjoy school, but school would just make it a regular day).

We started the morning by the puppies bringing us a rat.  I think Anderson’s reaction was a bit more positive than mine was about that.  Although, to be fair, I’d much rather them bring me a dead rat than find a live one.

Anderson got to have ugali and ketchup for lunch (plus some mango).  A favorite.  Can you say third culture kid?

Later in the day we had a a beautiful Lovebird sort of flopping/hopping around on the porch.  Another puppy victim?  We put it in the chicken run to protect it from the dogs, while still allowing it to fly away when it was ready.  It was really beautiful.

As we came back inside to discuss whether or not to put the bird into one of the rabbit houses (i.e. a cage), Soksi came running by with a dead bat in her mouth.  Ick!  As we chased her (she thought this was a very fun game), she kept dropping it and picking it back up and bringing it back inside.  Gross.  We finally got it away from her and threw it over the fence (yay! for puppies’ rabies shots).   This was about the time that Anderson screams “This is the Best Day Ever!” Nothing like a dead bat to excite a six year old.

But to really put this particular day over the top, Anderson’s new soccer goals were delivered a day early.  He was one very happy little boy (with a very happy friend as well).

Half day of school tomorrow and then two weeks of holiday.  We’re ready.
