Ashy Turns 11 at Maramboi

Ashlyn is 11.  I know, I can't believe it either.  Wasn't it just yesterday she was this chubby cheeked baby with dark hair? And now look at what an amazing young woman she is becoming.

Instead of a big birthday party, Ashy decided she would rather take 3 friends to Maramboi for the night. (The same place we went to celebrate her end of Exhibition). So, we all loaded into the car on Friday after school and went straight there.

Woohoo!  We made it!

This tent is named "Punda Milia" which is swahili for Zebra (literally "striped donkey").  Until this point, I didn't know zebras could read...

Amazing sundowner view over Lake Manyara and the Rift Wall

The girls watched the zebra and sunset from their tent

There may have been some minor shenanigans

(I swear we didn't let them drink)

Ashy also got the full Jambo Bwana serenade from the staff (link here for those whose email doesn't show the embedded video)

Waking up to wildebeest and zebra munching on grass right outside your tent just never gets old

Guided tour of the property the easy way

and the harder way

So many flamingos on Lake Manyara

And finishing up with some time at the pool watching the wildebeest and zebra

Happy 11th Birthday, Ashlyn!
We love you to the moon and back!
