Power outages, gas shortages, and jet lag, oh my.

Since the last stint of 3 days with no power, we’ve probably had 15 hours of power total since then (including one outage that was 24 hours).  We do not have a generator, but we do have a back-up battery system that recharges when (if?) the main power is on.  The batteries can last almost 24 hours if we are careful with what we use.  Things like the refrigerator and hot water are not on the back-up system.  David said he hasn’t had a shower at home since they arrived on Sunday.  We’re all going to the gym to “work-out” a lot, but really we just want a hot shower. On top of the crazy power outages we’ve been experiencing, we’re also in the middle of a gas shortage (compounded, I’m sure, by the number of generators that have been running non-stop due to the power issues).  The gas stations are either closed or have long lines.  There is even a facebook page that has been set-up to keep track of what gas stations currently have fuel in Arusha.  We’d planned a day trip to Tarangire National Park this weekend, but that was dependent on us finding gas today.  Luckily we found it at the 3rd gas station we tried and the lines weren’t even too bad.  Hopefully at least the gas crisis will be over soon.
